Hi Scouts, Scouters, Parents, Committee Members and future Scouts,
First of all, I would like to share with you a little about Troop 2001. We were formed in the fall of 2000 just about 7 years ago and have grown to be one of the best and most recognized troops in our district. Though a small troop by comparison, the boys have used their Boy Scout skills to bring home several Top Troop Awards.
Our troop has a strong focus for outdoor activities. We enjoy quite a lot of 'backpacking' type hikes. Some have taken us deep into The Grand Canyon, others have taken us to the heights of San Jacinto Mt. (11,000'.) We have also built our own Kayaks and have set sail down the Colorado River. As you can see we are into ADVENTURE!!
Our troop conducts itself as most others, with a strong emphasis on traditional scouting. That is, we take pride in our uniform, Boy Scout skills and our community. On average, we will accumulate several hundred community service hours each year.
Some of our projects include;
- Christmas in October (featured on Channel 9 KUSI)
- Feeding the homeless at a local shelter
- Cleaning the grave markers at Fort Rosecrans
- Grounds keeping work for local schools and many others
I must say, I am very happy with the advancements in the troop and I look forward, with you, to another GREAT year of Scouting!
